Consequences of wearing your "unlucky color"?

I was born Feb 5 94 and apparently I'm a Rooster, the Chinese Zodiac is telling me that Red (My all-time fav color) is an unlucky one this year :(. I am bummed and curious, how exactly is the "unlucky color" determined and what happens if you wear it?
